Get Ready to Winterize Your RV

by Client

Winter is right around the corner, and for most campers, it's time to winterize to protect your investment from harsh winter conditions. Even if you plan to use your RV this winter, these steps are important to keep your RV working well for years to come.

Plumbing

Water is one of the biggest concerns when it comes to winterization. Water left in your RV can freeze, leading to frozen lines, pipe bursts, and more. We suggest removing or bypassing any water filters. These filters can be damaged when you add RV antifreeze, which should be done as well. Before you add antifreeze, though, you should drain your tanks, water heater, and lines, and bypass your water heater. Once that's done, you'll add RV-specific antifreeze to the system to prevent any issues when the temperature drops.

Power

For those not planning to use their RV at all in the winter, it's a good idea to remove any batteries and store them inside. A battery maintainer can keep the batteries charged and working well.

Exterior

If you can, park your RV under a shelter to prevent snow from accumulating on the roof and damaging it. Seal off any possible ways for rodents to enter, as they may try to take refuge in your RV to stay warm. It's a good idea to inspect your RV monthly throughout the winter to head off any issues before they become major problems, especially leaks or rodent traces.

If you would rather leave the winterization to the professionals, contact the Client service team today. We can get your RV ready for colder weather so it'll be ready for your adventures when the weather warms back up.
